Just nine months after returning from a career-threatening knee injury, Rafael Nadal clinched the year-end No. 1 ranking for the third time by beating Stanislas Wawrinka 7-6 (5), 7-6 (6) at the ATP finals on Wednesday. Nadal, who beat Wawrinka for the 12th time in as many matches, can't be overtaken by No. 2 Novak Djokovic. ''A lot of emotions today, it's the perfect scenario to finally be the year-end number one,'' Nadal said after celebrating with fist pumps and leaps as if he had won the tournament - the only major title missing from his collection.
